24/7 M11 breakdown recovery & tyre changes, junctions 6 to 8

  • Open 24 hours, every day
  • About 5 miles to junction 8 from our base
  • Hertfordshire & Essex

Our base at Tednambury Farm in Spellbrook sits between junctions 7 and 8 of the M11, so this is our home stretch of motorway. We cover the M11 from the M25 interchange at junction 6, past Harlow at junctions 7 and 7A, up to junction 8 for Bishop's Stortford and Stansted Airport, in both directions, 24 hours a day.

If you've broken down, had a blowout or the car won't restart after stopping, get yourself safe first, then call or WhatsApp us. We'll give you a price on the phone before we set off and an honest estimate of when we'll be with you.

Broken down on the M11? Do this first

Move onto the hard shoulder if you can, as far left as possible, with your wheels turned to the left. Put your hazard lights on, and your sidelights at night or in fog. Get everyone out through the left-hand doors, climb over the barrier and wait up the bank, away from the vehicle and the traffic. Don't put out a warning triangle and don't try to fix anything yourself on the hard shoulder.

If you can't get out safely or can't reach the hard shoulder, stay in the vehicle with your seatbelt on and hazards on, and call 999.

Tell us exactly where you are

Look for the small blue driver location signs at the edge of the hard shoulder. Each one shows the motorway, the direction (A or B) and a number that pinpoints you to within a few hundred metres. Tell us that, whether you're northbound (towards Stansted and Cambridge) or southbound (towards London), and the last junction you passed. If you can, use the Use my location button on our Request help form or share your location on WhatsApp.

Flat tyres on the M11

We'll never change a tyre in a live lane, and only on the hard shoulder if it's genuinely safe. Usually the quicker, safer option is to load your car onto the flatbed and change the tyre at Birchanger Green, a lay-by off the next junction or another safe spot nearby, with a new tyre supplied and fitted if you need one.

Stopped at Birchanger Green services?

If you've managed to pull into Birchanger Green at junction 8 with a problem, stay there. It's a much safer place to wait than the hard shoulder. Tell us where in the car park you are, and we'll come to you for a tyre change, a jump start or recovery.
