What's included
- Flatbed recovery, so your vehicle travels on the bed instead of being towed on its own wheels
- Loading by winch, so vehicles that won't start can still be moved
- Secure strapping for the whole journey
- Delivery to your home, a garage of your choice or another address
- Accident recovery, once the police or emergency services say the vehicle can be moved
- A seat in the cab for one passenger, so you can travel with your vehicle
- Recovery for cars, vans, 4x4s and motorbikes
When to call us
Call whenever your vehicle can't be driven safely. That might be because it won't start, it's lost power with a warning light on, there's smoke or a burning smell, you've had a collision, or a wheel is too badly damaged to change at the roadside. If you've put the wrong fuel in and haven't started the engine, we can take it to a garage to be drained.
If you're not sure whether it's safe to drive, don't risk it. Call and describe what's happening. If it sounds like something we can sort at the roadside, we'll tell you.
Breakdowns on the M11 and local A-roads
Our base is just off the A1184, with junctions 7 and 8 of the M11 both close by, so we spend a lot of our time on the M11 and the M25, the A414 through Harlow, the A1184 between Harlow and Bishop's Stortford, and the A120 towards Stansted and Great Dunmow.
If you break down on a motorway or fast road, get yourself safe first, then call. Tell us which carriageway you're on (northbound or southbound), the last junction you passed and the number on the nearest blue driver location sign. Those few details mean we can find you quickly, even in the dark.
Occasionally the police or National Highways will arrange for a vehicle to be moved straight away because it's causing a danger. If that happens to you, call us and we'll help you work out what to do next. See our M11 and M25 pages for junction-by-junction detail.
What to expect
When you call, we'll ask a few quick questions (see the list on this page). Before we set off, we'll give you a price on the phone. We work out exactly where you are and where your vehicle needs to go, so the quote is as accurate as we can make it. The cost depends on the distance, the vehicle and the time of day.
Around Bishop's Stortford, we're usually with you within 30 minutes. Further out, we'll give you an honest estimate of when we'll be with you, and call or message you if that changes.
When we arrive, we check it's safe to work, load and strap your vehicle, and take it to the address you've given us. If anything changes while you're waiting, such as your location, just call or message us.
Vehicles we recover
We recover cars, vans, 4x4s and motorbikes. For larger vans or anything unusually heavy, tell us the make and model when you call so we can check it's within our truck's limits before we set off.
